18 November: Day for the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse - 2026 Edition

Since 2015, the Council of Europe has marked the Day for the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (#EndChildSexualAbuseDay) in partnership with its member states, civil society organisations and national parliaments, focusing on a different theme each year.

This year’s theme, “Ethical media reporting on sexual violence against children”, highlights the media’s crucial role in protecting children, upholding their rights and raising public awareness.

On 18 November 2026, the Council of Europe will launch a practical handbook on ethical reporting, adaptable to any national context. The event can be followed online (a link will be published soon).
